Smoked-Almond Cheese Toasts

I created my recipe for appetizer toasts while planning the menu for a friend\'s bridal luncheon. Smoked almonds add a special touch to the chunky cheese spread.—Laura Murphy, Columbus, Mississippi Taste of Home Recipe

Ingredients

  • Chopped Fresh Chives optional
  • 1/2 cup California Sun Dry Sun-dried tomatoes 100% vine ripened julienne cut with herbs
  • 1/8 tsp Pepper
  • 3/4 cup smoked Almonds or 3/4 cup toasted almond slivers and add 1/8 teaspoon liquid smoke to the milk for smoke flavor
  • 1 French bread baguette 10-1/2 ounces
  • 2 tbsp 2% milk
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 3/4 cup Whipped cream cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and milk until smooth.
  • Add 1/8 teaspoon of liquid smoke to the milk If using toasted almond slivers.
  • Stir in cheeses, almonds, sun dried tomatoes and pepper;
  • spread over bread slices.
  • Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until cheese is melted, 10-12 minutes.
  • If desired, top with chopped fresh chives.
