In a large microwave-safe bowl, place potatoes. Heat potatoes in microwave according to package directions, about 3 minutes. stir in cream cheese, sour cream, butter, salt, pepper, and garlic. Return to microwave, and heat at 1-minute intervals, until hot and creamy. Garnish with chopped chives, if desired.
