Smoked-Almond Cheese Toasts
I created my recipe for appetizer toasts while planning the menu for a friend\'s bridal luncheon. Smoked almonds add a special touch to the chunky cheese spread.—Laura Murphy, Columbus, Mississippi

Ingredients
- Chopped Fresh Chives optional
- 1/2 cup California Sun Dry Sun-dried tomatoes 100% vine ripened julienne cut with herbs
- 1/8 tsp Pepper
- 3/4 cup smoked Almonds or 3/4 cup toasted almond slivers and add 1/8 teaspoon liquid smoke to the milk for smoke flavor
- 1 French bread baguette 10-1/2 ounces
- 2 tbsp 2% milk
- 1 cup Sharp Cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 3/4 cup Whipped cream cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and milk until smooth.
- Add 1/8 teaspoon of liquid smoke to the milk If using toasted almond slivers.
- Stir in cheeses, almonds, sun dried tomatoes and pepper;
- spread over bread slices.
- Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until cheese is melted, 10-12 minutes.
- If desired, top with chopped fresh chives.
