I used Amaro Averna Siciliano and Rye, and I did find and use lavender bitters (which I highly recommend finding.) I garnished with a Luxardo cherry. This is, by far, the most amazing upscale Manhattan I have every had. This is my go-to cocktail for times I want to celebrate! This cocktail is rich, sophisticated, luxurious and absolutely delicious. The Amaro Averna Siciliano I used is on the expensive side, but a splurge worth it for special occasions.
Amaro Manhattan
Ingredients
- 4 fluid ounces bourbon or rye whiskey
- 2 fluid ounces amaro
- 2 to 4 dashes bitters preferably lavender
- 2 large ice cubes
- 4 maraschino cherries preferably Luxardo
Instructions
- Add the bourbon, amaro and bitters to a pitcher filled with ice and stir until cold. Place a large ice cube into each of two chilled heavy rocks glasses. Strain the drink over the ice. Garnish with the cherries and orange peels.
